L'Hermione's arrival in America
L'Hermione has reached the american coast, after a month-and-a-half-trip. The frigate went through cape Henry on June 2nd at 3.30pm, under a pouring rain and a thunderstorm, which reminded the departure from l'île d'Aix on April 18th to the crew.
She was joined by a US Navy destroyer, the USS MITSCHER, in order to celebrate the memory of the fallen soldiers during the battle of Chesapeake Bay in 1781. This battle has been crucial in the fight for the independence of the United States, because she ensured the Royal Navy's defeat and their withdrawal from Yorktown.
The frigate will now stay in Norfolk during the administrative process, before joining Yorktown's port on June 5th. She will then sail along the coast, stopping by every important port of the Independence's history (click here to find more information).
Yorktown also has a website dedicated to L'Hermione's arrival. You can consult it here.
