Carpenters from Asselin Company prepare in workshop the plates of oak selected to manufacture the first parts: "Frame-floor".

On the mainmast, there are two frame-floors in the bottom of the hold and fixed in the hull with bolts of 1,10m length. These two frame-floors imprison a flash and two blocks for an additional reinforcement and maintenance of the foot of mast.

The unit constitutes an assembly of 3 m3 of oak for an average weight of 2,5 tons. It will have to support the efforts taken again by the rigging of the mainmast.

The principle is the same for the foremast on a site more restricted (located to the bow of the frigate). The keelson of the foremast weight more than a ton and request 1,5 m3 of oak.
