Caulking of Dead Works on the Hull
During the finish of the quick work's bordering by some carpenters, other people are beginning the dead work's caulking.
This operation started since February and currently occupies 2 others carpenters on the fore bow. This could be continuing to the end of May 2010.

Carpenters use a caulking iron and a mallet to insert the hemp oakum tarred and braided. For the hull, the oakum is gauged according to the opening of the joints between bordered.

The second phase consists in applying coating to protect the caulker and for cement hangs.
Then, the carpenter will carry out his own matter, containing cement and primary painting. He will apply his own matter between joints to ensure the lightness between different parts.
For the lightness of dead work, carpenters will use more than 400KG of cement.
