The Laying of the big capstan : has required a true cooperation of men at work, an experience shared by the three companies working on the project :
The construction part was held by the carpenters of the woodwork shop (Alexandre Genoud's workers)
The blacksmiths have worked on the metallic parts (Metalneo firm)
And carpenters from Asselin company have helped with the laying operation
The big capstan is made of oak wook. A weight of 700 kg and a 3,40 meter height.
It was equiped of 12 wooden bars.
When raising the anchor, a total amount of 60 men was required to succeed in this operation.
