First step, before laying the oakum made of tarred hemp, the carpenter rolls it in his hands in order to get the right size and thickness to fit correctly the spare spaces along the floor.
Then, the carpenters introduce the oakum in between each piece of the oak floor using caulking irons and a wooden stick.
This particuliar step of work should end by christmas time.
